DiaconateThe Deacons are men and women who are chosen to share with the Pastor in helping the church to envision and achieve its spiritual potentialThe Diaconate consists of twelve members with four members being selected each year to serve a term of three years. Under our by-laws, a deacon can serve only two consecutive terms. A member of the Diaconate should have an excellent record of behavior, a deep spiritual interest in the Church of Christ, and be an asset to the Church by virtue of wisdom, sound judgment, and ability to lead. An attempt is made to keep the number of men and women serving as Deacons equal (six and six). When necessary, the Deacons assist the Pastor in calling. The deacons also consider candidates for membership in our church and review the membership list annually for possible transfer to active or inactive status. One member of the Diaconate is appointed to serve on the Stewardship Committee, one member on the Nominating Committee, and one member on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee. Generally, the Diaconate meets with the Pastor on the second Thursday of every month except during July when no formal meeting is held.
